HGCS: What got you interested in caching?
Hardings: We bought a yellow Magellan in 2004 for Ted to take to Iraq, which he used in military operations. While he was deployed, I read an article about geocaching in a travel magazine. It sounded like a fun way we could use the GPSr in an activity we could all do together.
When he got back, we went for our first hunt, and it was so much fun that we kept going. Of course, the bug bit me more than anyone else in the family, so it has primarily become a solo hobby, but we try to go together when we can, or I take kids or dogs with me when I go.
HGCS: How did you decide on your caching name?
Hardings: Well, if I had known I would be the one who was mostly caching under this handle, I would have chosen something to represent just me. As it was, when we were checking out the website, we decided to choose a name that represented everybody in the family, so we just took our last name and added a “s” to make us plural. We couldn’t think of anything else that would represent all four of us!
